J1939 Traffic Simulator — Generate and Analyze CAN Bus Frames Online
The J1939 Traffic Simulator generates realistic SAE J1939 CAN bus traffic directly in your browser — no hardware, no software installation, no vehicle required. Select a predefined scenario or build a custom configuration, choose the PGNs you want to simulate, and watch the frames stream in real time with physical parameter values derived from the SAE J1939DA standard.
Use this tool for ECU development testing, J1939 protocol training, diagnostic tool validation, and embedded systems labs. Every generated frame follows the J1939 29-bit extended CAN identifier format with correct PGN encoding, priority, and source address.

The simulator generates frames for all major J1939 parameter groups — engine control (EEC1, PGN 61444), vehicle speed and cruise control (CCVS, PGN 65265), engine temperatures (ET1, PGN 65262), engine fluid levels and pressure (EFL/P1, PGN 65263), and many more. Each frame is built using the actual scaling factors, offsets, and bit positions defined in the J1939DA standard, so the generated data bytes are byte-accurate and can be used directly for protocol testing.
The Error Injector allows you to simulate fault conditions by injecting specific FMI codes into any SPN in the active configuration. FMI 3 and FMI 4 simulate voltage faults, FMI 9 simulates a CAN bus communication timeout, and FMI 2 simulates an erratic or intermittent signal — exactly the fault conditions your diagnostic tool or ECU firmware needs to handle correctly.
The traffic stream displays the raw CAN frame in the standard format used by professional bus analyzers: timestamp, 29-bit identifier in hex, and 8 data bytes space-separated. Copy the output to clipboard and paste it directly into your development environment or test harness.
For decoding real frames captured from a vehicle, use the CAN Frame Decoder. For fault code information on any SPN, use the SPN FMI Lookup. For complete PGN specifications including transmission rates and data lengths, use the PGN Lookup.
